The age of the smartphone

It’s hard to believe that the first smartphone only came onto the market about 10 years ago, and it’s only in the last 6 or so years that internet browsing on a smartphone has become an everyday habit of the world.
With mobile and tablet numbers increasing and desktop users decreasing in most households, it’s easy to see why it’s important that we keep up with the fast pace of the smartphone age. Responsive webpages, easy to fill forms, active social media channels and quick-to-find information keeps Staffordshire County Council accessible to smartphone users.
We looked back at the comparison of desktop vs mobile/tablet users from 2010 until 2017:
Our findings show that 2017 was the year that mobile started to overtake desktop. As the years go on, as more and more people become digitally enabled, we should only expect this comparison to carry on in the same direction and it’s important our digital efforts support this.
